Walking amongst the many beauty spots that the Wirral Peninsula has to offer, you will often see benches with plaques of dedication to deceased loved ones. This one above is on a bench situated up on Grange Hill in West Kirby and reads as:
In loving memory of Betty Thomas
1914 - 1992
Rest and be blessed
harm and be cursed
Who exactly was Betty Thomas? What did she mean by her warning contained on the last two lines of her plaque?
Was it a warning against vandalism toward the seat itself? Or was it more of a symbolic caution; warning us - the living caretakers of our surroundings - to protect the view and ultimately, the environment of a place she obviously loved?
