In keeping with other photographs on the site associated with this road development on Wirral, we are displaying some more images of the impact on the landscape that the Saughall Massie Bypass has affected. It would be fair to say that although the road has cut a swathe through the landscape, the recovery on the visual aspect has been aided by careful surveying at planning stage and attention being given to the replacement of hedgerows and trees. It would appear that Wirral Council's Highways Department set out to create minimal visual impact on the landscape - though we suspect they may not have been as attentive to this aspect of the development had it not been for the pressure from public voices asking for aesthetic considerations to be recognised. However, despite the visual outcome of this road scheme, the Society still maintain that it has contributed to the loss of character to the area it has been imposed upon.

To build the road, it was necessary to cut off the corner of a public-access field and cut through private farm land. Hopefully as time goes on, the newly planted hedgwerows will prosper and hide some the impact of this road scheme from the eye.
